About Me

My name is Aaron Dewald.  I'm a PhD student in Learning Sciences at the University of Utah under the direction of Dr. Kirsten R. Butcher Links to an external site..  Additionally, I work as the Associate Director of the Center for Innovation in Learning Sciences at the S.J. Quinney College of Law.  One of my big pet projects is TheFirstYear.org Links to an external site., where I combine learning science, technology, and legal education.  I'm hoping it becomes a source of data for me to analyze throughout this class.  I've taken a few data mining classes at the U, but nothing specifically focused on education.

I have a popular YouTube channel Links to an external site. that I use to show case my instructional design abilities as well as some learning science topics.  5000 subscribers can't be wrong :)

I'm participating in this class because of my interests that straddle learning science and technology.  I think there's a lot we can learn from the data in creating better, more robust learning systems. I don't know if I'll be able to get credit for this or not, but that won't stop me from taking the course.
