AUGUST 26
Today's class involves discussing Woodward's overview of the concept of identity and "At Arm's Length," a piece published in New York Magazine.
It is always useful to compare and contrast the different styles of the two readings. The textbook broadly introduces us to concepts while New York Magazine speaks to its audience of the erudite and hip. (Fun reference: http://mediakit.nymag.com/ Links to an external site.)
Here's more about Vulture:
We will begin to discuss Althusser's work, interpellation, and the concept of the Ideological State Apparatuses that hail us.
