Introductory Dynamics of Communication

The readings and video this week help us dig deeper into the process of communication, a key aspect of understanding how to prepare speeches. The first reading on page 9 - 10 of the Ige and Montalbano text introduced us to the concept of the sender/receiver. The slash in that phrase is very important as it points to the way communication works as a dynamic process. Rather than a sender simply sending a message to a receiver, the communication model found in our text helps illustrate that we cannot Not communicate.

This week we will dig deeper into the concepts discussed during our first week, and expand our knowledge by practicing work we have developed this week.

I look forward to seeing your introductory speeches! I hope that the practice you have with this first speech helps you grow as speakers and learners.
