Computer & Cyber Crimes
Review the attached FBI 2013 & 2014 Computer Crime Reports:
2014_FBI Computer Crime Report-1.pdf Download 2014_FBI Computer Crime Report-1.pdf
FBI 2013 Computer Crime Report-1.pdf Download FBI 2013 Computer Crime Report-1.pdf
Use the two reports and search the Internet to select a Computer or Cyber Crime committed recently within the last two years and summarize your findings in 2 to 3 slides addressing the following questions:
- Based on the FBI 2013 and 2014 reports, is the nature of the crime you selected on the rise or decline? or is it a new crime because of a new technology?
- What is the impact on the individual, society, country, and the globe?
- Could it have been averted?
- Was the crime prosecuted and was there a punishment?
- Did the punishment fit the crime?
In the next section, try to frame your analysis in a Social Informatics perspective:
- In what area did this crime fall?
- Was there a legislation to address this crime?
- Is there a transnational or International possible intervention or need for legislation in this area?
- What or how can Social Informatics help in this area?
- Use a free trial data visualization application from the following link: http://www.tableau.com/products/trial?os=mac%20os%20x Links to an external site.
graph all the computer and cyber crimes for 2013 and 2014 from the reports and include a screen capture of your graph in your Powerpoint. Explore other data visualization by using maps and summary to graph your mapping of the crimes by city or state and represent different crime data elements and attributes in different formats and types of graphs.
Post your PowerPoint here and invite one or two other learners to comment on your summary.
