Title: Topic Selection & List of References
Introduction:
Social informatics refers to a multidisciplinary research field that examines the design, uses, and implications of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in ways that account for their interactions with institutional and cultural contexts. Technology is leading to dramatic changes in the lives of individuals and societies and significantly improving throughput productivity in many fields. However, the study of Social Informatics and social interactions sometimes points to the failure of technological determinism: different systems are used in different ways (or sometimes not at all), depending in large part on the social motivations. Therefore, we should consider both the social aspect, not just the technology or ICT aspect in every system. This socio-technical system in Social Informatics is a complex interdependent system that deals with people, technology infrastructures (Hardware & Software), and information structure that is more about studying people and the support structures hopefully to influence system design and the use/implications of technology.
Tasks:
In this first phase of your Final Course Project (FCP), you are to select four topics of your interest in Social Informatics from the attached “Final Course Project Topics” I202 Final Course Project Topics.doc Download I202 Final Course Project Topics.doc document or you may also choose topics from other sources. You will research the print and electronic resources starting with the IUPUI Online Library then the Internet. Build a reference library in which you will provide information about all the reference material available for you to use for all your four selected topics. Articles and research papers should be listed in a proper bibliography format. After reviewing the research material, you need to submit your four prospective research topics in a 500-word document overview using Microsoft Word and a list of your identified resources.
