Importing files from Oncourse into Canvas

To move files stored in Oncourse Resources to Canvas, export them to a ZIP file and then import the ZIP file into the Canvas Files tool.

1. Exporting content from Oncourse Resources

• Go to the site with the files you want to export.
• Click Resources on the left menu. 
• To the right of the folder you wish to export, from the Actions menu, choose Compress to ZIP Archive. To export everything in the current site, choose the folder at the top with the same name as your site. 
• The compressed file will be saved to Resources with a name in the following format: siteID.zip 
• Right-click the name of the ZIP file, and save the file to your local storage device.

2. Importing content into the Canvas Files

• Go to the site where you want to import your files. 
• Click Files. 
• In the Files tool, select the folder into which you wish to import the ZIP file. To import them into the top level of the tool, choose the folder at the top with the same name as your site. 
• Click the Import a zip file icon. 
• On the Import Files screen, click Browse and select the ZIP file on your local storage device. 
• Click Upload File.
