Supported devices

" "Canvas supports a number of mobile devices through the Canvas by Instructure application. It is compatible with the following mobile operating systems, on both tablets and mobile phones:

  • iOS 7.0+
  • Android 4.0+

The app can be downloaded through the Play Store on Android, or the App Store on iOS devices. Search for "Canvas by Instructure" and install. Canvas on mobile devices

  • A note on mobile browsers

Although Canvas can be accessed through a mobile browser, it is not officially supported. For the best user experience, use the Canvas by Instructure app.

  • Logging in to the Canvas by Instructure app.

When logging in for the first time, the Canvas app will ask for your institution's url. Enter iu.instructure.com in this field. From there, you will be taken to Central Authentication Services where you should enter your IU email address and password to log in. Besides Canvas, this course utilizes a number of other third party sites that may work better (or ONLY work) with their apps installed. All apps are free.

Piazza

The Piazza mobile app is available for download on Android 2.2+ and iOS 5.0+. Although piazza is available through a mobile browser, please use the app for the best mobile experience.

VoiceThread

The VoiceThread app is only available for iOS (e.g., iPhone, iPad, etc) and can be downloaded from the App Store. Currently, there is no app for available for Android. If viewing this course on an Android device, please use a desktop computer when accessing VoiceThread for the best possible user experience.
