Taking Quizzes and Exams
Practice quizzes and exams, as well as regular quizzes and exams, are all taken in Canvas using the Quizzes page. Practice quizzes and exams can be taken multiple times and are not linked to the gradebook. In general, graded quizzes and exams can only be taken once. In most courses, you have the option to re-take the first proctored exam.
To take an exam, you will first submit an Exam Application form. The form, along with instructions, is linked to on the Syllabus page. This form is how you tell IUHS who will be proctoring Links to an external site. the exam for you. Assuming IUHS approves your proctor, we will then send an access code to the proctor.
All Cooperative courses now include the option to take exams at home, using Examity. This is an at-home proctoring service that uses your own web-camera to proctor your exam. You can read more about Examity here.
When you take the exam, you will login to Canvas (so be sure you know the web address and your login username/password), go to Quizzes, and select the exam. Canvas will prompt you for the access code and the proctor will enter it. If the exam is taken on paper, the proctor will download the exam and print it for the you, then they will scan and upload the completed exam back into Canvas. Otherwise, you simply answer the questions as presented within Canvas. When the exam is completed, click "Submit" just as with an assignment.

After the exam is complete, you will not see anything but your grade. Canvas will not show you the test questions nor your answers. If there are ungraded short answer or essay questions, you will need to wait until the instructor completes the grading of the exam before you will know your final score.
After any exam, it is highly recommended that you review the exam Links to an external site.. As with taking an exam, exam reviews are done while supervised by a proctor. You can read about the review procedure in the Student Handbook here.
