Course Objectives

Welcome to Business Education 21C Computer Applications. The goal for this course is for you to learn how to use computer application software as a tool in your personal, professional, and educational life. There is so much to learn about computers, and this is one area in which you can plan on being a lifelong learner.

This course begins with the essential things you need to know about being a good digital citizen. So much of what is created on the computer is posted online, so it is important as a computer user that you know how to act in a responsible and professional way. After becoming comfortable with the basics of digital citizenship, the remainder of the course will introduce you to Microsoft Word, a word-processing program, and Microsoft Excel, a spreadsheet program. You will also learn about Microsoft’s presentation software PowerPoint. The course will then conclude with a project that will allow you to incorporate all of the Microsoft Office Suite programs. You will use the Internet throughout the entire course and discover how to conduct effective searches for information that you need.

You will be introduced to many concepts and features in these lessons, and you will be able to apply each one of them to your academic, professional, and personal life. You will create, edit, and format documents using different features in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Once you receive feedback from your instructor you should revise your work and make the appropriate changes so that you will be able to have these corrected documents ready for your final project.

Business Education 21C consists of using the Internet, Microsoft OneNote, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in your daily life. These skills are the building blocks for a great future and a better career.
