Course Overview

Woman Reading
(Creative Commons – Paul Bence)

In this course, you’ll read and write about five significant and widely acclaimed novels: Willa Cather’s My Ántonia, John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men, Ray Bradbury’s Dandelion Wine, Daniel Keyes’ Flowers for Algernon, and Barbara Kingsolver’s The Poisonwood Bible. Although they span nearly one hundred years in our literary history, the novels share a common theme: individuals in conflict with other people, nature, or themselves.
