Learning Communities
Learning Communities are groups of faculty who meet over a period of time (usually a semester) to learn about some aspect of teaching. Although our institutes would meet the definition, we reserve the term for more informal groups such as our Book Groups.
Each semester, UCET will announce several books groups that you can join. The first five to join typically receive a free copy of the book. Meeting times are typically negotiated by the group.
We try to keep the groups small (4-6), so this is a great way to get to know people in other parts of campus.
Past books have included:
- James Lang, Small Teaching
- Norman Eng, Teaching College
- Linda Nilson, Teaching at its Best
- Susan Robison, The Peak Performing Professor
