The Syllabus: A Must-Have

lightbulb.pngPRO TIP

In the Canvas Syllabus, your assignment due dates sync with the course summary at the bottom of your syllabus. That means when you modify a due date in a Canvas Assignment, it will automatically update in the Calendar and Syllabus.

DID YOU KNOW?

  • A syllabus is the course agreement between you and your students. It helps students meet expectations and plan how much time to spend on the course.
  • A well-designed syllabus gives students an informed impression about you and your course. It contains elements such as: contact information, description, what materials are required for the course, course outcomes, assignment expectations, grading details, school policies, class etiquette and technical requirements.
  • To gain the foundational skills of designing an accessible syllabus, visit “Creating an Accessible Syllabus using Microsoft Word Links to an external site.” to find guidelines and implementation support with instructions, examples, video demonstrations, practice exercises, and more.
