Design Assets: Course Banners
Getting Started
Using a banner at the top of your homepage and content pages can help brand your course. Aside from being aesthetically pleasing, your course banner acts as an orienting device for your students, informing them of course content.
You can create customized banners with text specific to your course by using our banner templates through Google Slides. There are 9 pre-designed options to choose from, or you can upload your own image to create banners unique for your course.
Instructions
- When you click on the buttons above, you will be prompted to sign in to your Google account if you are not already. You may use your IU Google account or your personal account—either is acceptable.
- You will be prompted to make your own copy of the template file. Select "make a copy."
- Select your template and add your text.
- When you're ready, save your banner as an image by going to File > Download As > PNG image (.png, current slide)

Homepage banners
- 1825 pixels by 350 pixels
- Include an appropriate IU branding logo or lockup Links to an external site. (could be a simple IU trident or your campus-specific lockup)
- Use the RGB color space
- Save as a PNG file
Module banners
- 1825 pixels by 150 pixels
- Most modules should include "week #" or "module #" before the name of the module
- Use the RGB color space
- Save as a PNG file
