1. Edit Your Recordings
You may need to edit your recordings
- to remove extraneous material at the front end and/or back end of the interview.
- remove a portion of the interview that could be defamatory (the choice to remove material would be noted in the recording as well as the transcription and confirmed with IU legal counsel and the PI).
- remove material that violates HIPAA (e.g. the interview provides specific health information about an identifiable individual other than the interviewee). The choice to remove material would be noted in the recording as well as the transcription and confirmed with IU legal counsel and the PI.
If you need to edit the recording, please use Adobe Audition, Audacity Links to an external site. (free for Windows and Mac), GarageBand (Mac) or similar program and export the audio in the same format as the original recording.
If you have made substantive edits, label the new recording as “-edited_recording”.
