Adding a CC License to Your OER

A requirement of the CMFP is that you share some version of your resource under a Creative Commons license of your choosing. You can easily do this in Pressbooks using instructions from the User Guide. Once you change this setting, electronic/ web versions as well as PDF versions of your OER will have your CC license clearly indicated and integrated into the resource. Other modules within this section discuss how you can determine which CC license is best for your work.

Attributing/ Finding Materials that Have Other Licenses

Putting a statement similar to the following on your title page may also be helpful:

Except where otherwise noted, all material is [insert CC license of your choice].

This will allow you to adequately differentiate between your original work and the work/ images you're adapting. For example, if you use an image that is created and licensed by someone else you can put:

[Title of work with link] is licensed [insert license]... for example Introduction to Molecular Biology [link] by Jim Jones is licensed CC BY NC 4.0 [link]

Copyright [Name], [Title of work with Link to it]... for example Copyright Jim Jones, Biology 101 Textbook [link]
