This is a teaching museum. Students have the opportunity to get professional experience here. The third floor is home to two of our four learning centers: Center for Curatorial Studies (to your left as you exit the elevator) and Center for Prints, Drawings, and Photographs.

Staff in our Center for Curatorial Studies research, collect art, design exhibitions, build exhibitions and more. Through our apprenticeship program, students work alongside the 18 full-time staff members in the curatorial department. Some of the exhibitions on view are curated by IU students.

Our Center for Prints, Drawings, and Photographs ([Gesture toward Center for PDP from where you stand) includes a collection of more than 22,000 works on paper, a gallery, an extensive research program, a comprehensive collections care program, and a stunning glassed-walled study room in which students, scholars, and community members can examine works from the collection that are not already on view, by request. The third floor also has three of the museum’s seven galleries. To our right (as you exit the elevator) is the Time-based Media gallery and straight ahead is Arts of Africa, Oceania, and the Indigenous Arts of the Americas, which we’ll enter momentarily.
