 Purpose

The purpose of this interview is to discuss military readiness in regard to body composition.

 Meet the Guest Speaker

Michael McGurk

Dr. McGurk currently works for the Department of the Army as a the Director of Research for the US Army Center for Initial Military Training at TRADOC, Fort Eustis Virginia. In his current role he is the lead for the US Army for the development and fielding of the new Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT). He directs the test implementation and standards for the entire Active Army, Army National Guard and Army Reserve, across the globe.

In addition, Dr. McGurk directs, coordinates & provides senior leadership to subordinate division, IMT CoE staff. He evaluates & conducts a continuous review of action attainment versus established objectives, initiates & recommends actions to reverse negative initial military training gaps or trends, develops & recommends budgetary requirements, taking into consideration current & anticipated program requirements, equipment, personnel, & strategic plans. Interprets DoD & HQDA policies based on regulations, management principles & ethics governing the conduct of work.
