Mendelian Randomization in Nutritional Epidemiology

Stella Aslibekyan, Ph.D.

Dr. Aslibekyan Links to an external site. leads the Genetic Epidemiology team at 23andMe. In the past, she was a tenured associate professor of epidemiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She received her BA (honors) in Human Biology from Stanford University in 2005, followed by training at the Harvard School of Public Health (SM in Epidemiology, 2008) and Brown University (PhD in Epidemiology, 2011). Throughout her research career, Dr. Aslibekyan have focused on the "nature and nurture" question-- i.e. the interplay of genetic and environmental factors in human health and disease. Currently, she works on large-scale data science projects at 23andMe, focusing on supporting the company's mission to help people access, understand, and benefit from the human genome.
