Reminder: Privacy & Granting Third-Party Access

Exclamation mark icon Privacy and granting third-party access

Remember that The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974  prevents IU from releasing certain information about you to anyone else, even your parent or spouse, without your authorization. If you want someone else to be able to access information about your financial aid or your bill, you can authorize access to your information by those individuals. Review the information about granting third-party access in the Technology module.

Reminder: The bursar is responsible for billing of student tuition accounts. This responsibility involves sending bills, setting up  payment plans for students as needed, and doing everything to bring all student accounts to a "paid off" status.

Important note: UITS is not able to support parents or guardians accessing a student's data.  UITS can assist with trying to log in, but students are responsible for maintaining any third-party accounts.

Your turn!

Still need to grant third-party access? Follow the Knowledge Base instructions to allow someone else to view your personal IU information or pay your bursar bill. Links to an external site.
