CrimsonCard Links to an external site. is the official photo ID card that identifies you as a member of the Indiana University community!

CrimsonCard is available for students, faculty, and staff on all Indiana University campuses. It provides access to a variety of essential services and features including:

  • Secure entry to buildings and labs
  • Printing services*
  • University libraries
  • Payment at participating retailers
  • Easy access to student events

* you will not be able to print until you have a CrimsonCard

Question mark icon How do I get my CrimsonCard?

The process of getting your CrimsonCard starts today by submitting your photo! There are requirements your photo must meet, including:  

  • Must be a current photo
  • Must have a solid colored blue, gray or light colored background
  • Must be passport style - forward-facing, head and top of the shoulders in frame
  • No filters can be applied to the photo

Visit the CrimsonCard: Who can sumbit a photo online? Links to an external site. for all photo requirements and examples of good and bad online photo submissions. Once have your perfect picture, it’s time to submit it. To do this, visit the CrimsonCard website Links to an external site. and log in with your IU username and passphrase. Follow the prompts and in a few short steps, you’ll be done! Within a week, you’ll receive an email letting you know if your photo was approved or if you need to submit another. If approved, you're done! If denied, you'll need to submit another photo.

Once approved, your card will be printed and held until you come to campus. More instructions on picking up your card will be provided later this summer.

Question mark iconWhat is CrimsonCash and how do I make a deposit?

CrimsonCash is money deposited into your CrimsonCash account. These funds can be used anywhere CrimsonCard is accepted as payment Links to an external site.. Every current student has a CrimsonCash account and can make deposits.

The Registration deposit Links to an external site. is a convenient way to plan ahead and deposit $250, $500 or $750 (both $250 and $500) when registering for classes. The amount selected is deposited to your account 2 weeks before classes begin and can be used to purchase textbooks, food, and other needed items. You can also make instant deposits at any time from the CrimsonCard website. Deposits made by students can be paid for using a credit/debit card or can be billed to your student bursar account. Financial aid (requires a completed Title IV form, which we'll cover in the Finances Module), 529 funds, or any form of payment accepted by the Bursar Office may be used to pay for these CrimsonCard deposits.

Parents and anyone else can also make deposits to your CrimsonCash account from the CrimsonCard website. A $2.50 fee applies to each deposit using a credit/debit card.

Purchasing textbooks from the campus bookstore

Students needing to purchase textbooks online at the campus bookstore (Follett Higher Education Group) can do so using the card number found on their CrimsonCard. If you have not received your CrimsonCard yet, you can obtain your 16-digit card number, starting with 6012, by logging in to your CrimsonCard account and clicking on the My ID Card button.
