Course Description: An introduction to Hatha Yoga, various Asanas (postures), Pranayama (breathing and yogic (diaphragmatic) breathing. Brief readings and discussion/talks on various relevant subjects such as: the yogic way of eating; Proper exercise and movement; Mindfulness, Meditation, the Art of listening, and the benefits of yoga. Course Objective: To become familiar with basic yoga postures and the Surya Namaskara (Sun Salutation); To find balance between tension and relaxation; To develop body awareness; To increase physical and mental endurance; To develop a personal practice outside of the classroom.
