  • COPYRIGHT Fall '21

This is my favorite course to teach. We get to connect copyright doctrine to popular culture and current events. It's a lot of fun. Take it! :) This course will challenge you to improve several key legal skills: statutory interpretation, short memo writing, reading challenging cases, and applying complex legal tests. In my experience, each student is able to take the assignments to their own right level of challenge. This course is significantly more time intensive than one where you can. basically pay attention in lectures, and cram for the final. You will have assignments due during the semester. So, I would say it is really not the best course to take this semester if you are doing a clinic, working on top of full-time coursework, carrying a course overload, or otherwise particularly stretched. However, I am cognizant that COVID-related stresses are still very real. I am using ways to scale back the time demands of this course from 2-3 years ago. Finally, note that this course is labeled "blended." The asynchronous component is not typical online coursework. It is time allocated for you to write your short memos.
