Your Instructor

Anne Weiss, M.A., Ph.D. Student, IU School of Education, Higher Education Student Affairs Administration

Anne has over five years of experience, both inside and outside the classroom, with designing civic engagement initiatives.  Anne has published a handful of articles regarding how students display their civic learning, with her most recent publication within the eJournal of Public Affairs, in a co-authored piece entitled “Civil Dialogue for the Twenty-First Century: Two Models for Promoting Thoughtful Dialogue around Current Issues on a College Campus”.  Anne has also been awarded for her work across civic engagement initiatives both by IU undergraduates ("Administrator of the Year" award in 2013) and by her faculty (Graduate Student Paper of the Year, 2013).  Anne is also an accomplished national and international presenter on civic learning and democratic engagement.  Beginning in fall 2013, Anne is pursuing a doctorate through the Indiana University School of Education, Educational Leadership and Policy program, majoring in Higher Education Student Affairs (HESA). Anne’s interests and passions come together when she is engaged in research and innovative entrepreneurship involving the areas of:  civic learning, democratic engagement, and internet-based technologies.  During her down time, Anne enjoys commuting to work on her bike and watching college football or the Detroit Tigers.
