READ CHAPTER THREE IN YOUR TEXTBOOK

After reading this chapter practice your evaluative listening skills by following these steps.

Listen to a short persuasive presentation (any politician or pundit would do). Identify what the speaker is asking the listeners to believe or do. Evaluate the speaker's evidence by considering:

  • Did the speaker support the claim with evidence?
  • Did the speaker cite references for the evidence?
  • Was the evidence accurate?
  • Does the speaker represent opposing evidence fairly?

Now briefly share your thoughts to your instructor for (10) points. Don't forget to use textbook theory or knowledge and cite your sources.
