Modules, Wikifolios, and Discussions
Most Cooperative courses will begin with either the Home page or the Syllabus. This is where you will 'meet' your instructor, learn how to contact them, and find out exactly what the process of completing the course will involve. You will learn how to get started, what to expect, and what is expected of you as a student.
Generally, Cooperative courses are designed to be completed at a pace of one assignment per week. There are no actual deadlines, but if you follow that pace you should do well.
Modules
Many Cooperative courses use Modules. Modules are used to organize class material and to establish the sequence students need to follow. Modules can contain Assignments or Quizzes, and also Discussions (see below) or Pages (discussed in Wikifolios below). Other kinds of content may be included as well.

Wikifolios
Another Canvas feature commonly used in Cooperative courses is found in Pages. Here you can create new wiki-style pages within your Canvas course to share ideas with your teacher and the other students. The whole collection of Pages you create is referred to as your Wikifolio.
To create a new Page, follow these directions:
1. In the left navigation menu, select Pages This will take you to the course home page. Click the blue "View All Pages" button in the upper left and then click the blue "+Page" button in the upper right to create a new page.
2. Be sure to title the page with Your Name - Title of Assignment (whatever the assignment is for which you are creating the wikifolio page - for example, the first wikifolio page might be titled Your Name - Lesson 1).
3. Click the blue "Save" button in the lower right.
You may also need to create a Table of Contents page with a list of all your pages. Create that (if it hasn't already been done for you) using the above procedure. You will usually call it your Name - Table of Contents. Then do the following:
1. Go to the address bar in your browser window and highlight the URL for the first Page you want to include in your Table of Contents. Right click and select "Copy."
2. Go to your Your Name - Table of Contents page and click the "Edit" button in the upper right.
3. Type in and highlight the name of the Page you just copied the URL address for (step 1) and click the "Link to URL" icon above the text box (it looks like a little link of chain).
4. A box should open that says "Link to Website URL." Right click inside the box with "http://" in it and select Paste. This should enter the URL for the desired page. Click the "Insert Link" button and the assignment name should now be a direct link to your Page for that assignment. Click the blue "Save" button in the lower right.
5. Repeat the steps above for each assignment that you add to your table of contents page.

Discussions
Some Cooperative courses use Discussions. This feature of Canvas allows students and teachers to participate in "chained" conversations. You can read an initial post from your teacher (or even another student) and then write and post your own reply. You can also post replies to other replies (thus forming a chain). Of course you teacher and other students will also be replying and commenting on your own posted messages.
