Mündliche Prüfung 1

  • Points 16

Instructions

For this oral exam, you have to work with your predetermined partner, which will be assigned by your instructor.  Your assignment is to have a spontaneous conversation with your partner, record it and then upload it to the course CANVAS site.  You can complete and upload the assignment any time during Tuesday, February 17 and Monday, February 23. The deadline for submissions is Monday, February 23, 6 PM.

Make a 30-minute appointment with your partner. You will need a computer with a microphone (we strongly recommend the Ballantine Hall language computer labs BH115, 117, 119).  If you are using your own computer and audio recording software, make sure to create a test recording file before accessing the assignment, in order to test the volume on playback and make any necessary adjustments.  If you are using the Ballantine language computer labs, follow the instructions at the bottom of the page in order to become familiar with the recording software before you start the quiz. You will be graded on pronunciation, task completion, how much you contribute, and correct language use/comprehensibility (in equal amounts).

Instructions for recording assignment:

  1. After testing the recording software, one student should log into the G150 Canvas site.
  2. In Module “6. Woche”, open the last assignment “Mündliche Prüfung 1”.  You will find these same instructions.
  3. Once you click on “Take the Quiz” you will have a total of 20 minutes to read the actual instructions for the Mündliche Prüfung, make the recording with your partner, check the recording for audio quality, save the file to the computer as an .wma file (labelled “MP1_student 1 name_student 2 name), and then upload (click on “Choose a file” next to “Upload” on the quiz) the file to the assignment.
  4. After the first student logs out of Canvas, the other student will then log into the G150 Canvas site, go to the last assignment “Mündliche Prüfung 1” in Module “6. Woche”, click on “Take the Quiz”, and then upload the same recording file to the assignment.

Nota bene: There is only one submission per student.  You will not be allowed to change your recording once the file has been uploaded.  You are also responsible for the audio quality of the recording.  If the instructor is unable to hear the uploaded file, students will receive no grades, so be sure to test the file before uploading.
