Learning Outcomes for Students
Students will be able to evaluate information by its quality, authority, and bias.
This is the heart of the Information Literacy Online Toolkit. Modules and video tutorials will feature methods for combating misinformation and identifying exaggerated media biases. Special attention has been given to the "Journalistic Six," a series of questions investigators use when gathering information. Students will also begin to learn how to be their own debunkers by practicing information literacy skills.
Students across the IU library system will be able to access library resources with greater efficiency and ease.
A video tutorial of IUCAT shows students how to find books and other information across the IU library system. An additional video includes features common across all databases (including limiters, keyword searching).
Students will be able to identify library services at their home IU campus library.
Videos for each IU campus library show students the spaces and services available to them, both at their home campus library and at other libraries across the IU system. These services include where to check out a book or pick up a resource from interlibrary loan, find study space, and where to get in-person help with their research.
Students will apply the skills learned from the Toolkit beyond the classroom.
This is one of the major goals of the Information Literacy Online Toolkit. After using the tutorials, videos, and other resources in the Toolkit, students will be able to use these skills and apply them to their work and daily lives.
