How to Do a Reverse Image Search

What is it?

A reverse image search allows you to upload an image from the internet to see where else that image, and visually similar images, have appeared on the web.

Why use it?

To help spot fake images, and verify if what you see is being used accurately.  You can use a reverse image search to find the origin of an image to see the approximate date when a picture was first released on the Internet. This can be helpful when you search online for videos, image and other media and need to determine if they're actually part of the story or source you're looking at, or if they've been used elsewhere before in other contexts. This can help ensure that you're not accidentally continuing the spread of fake images, and that you aren't being tricked.

What Tool Should I Use?

A great tool to use for a reverse image search is Tineye Links to an external site. The video below  gives you a brief tutorial on how to use this tool.
