Finding the Full Text
When searching through a library database, you may find the citation of a source but can't find the full text. Follow the directions below to help you obtain the full text of a specific source.
1. First, begin by typing in the topic you are searching for within the database. When searching, try to use specific keywords to ensure that you are receiving results relevant to your topic.
2. When looking through the results of your search, you may find that some sources automatically have the PDF Full text of the source. To obtain these sources, just follow the link to the full text.
3. However, not every source in your search results will have the option to click on the full text. Instead, you may see a button similar to this "Check for Availability". Follow this link to continue finding the full text.
4. When clicking on "Check for Availability", you will either be redirected to the full text, or you can request the full text through your library's interlibrary loan service. If you are redirected to the full text, your screen will look similar to the image below. Click the link to get the full text of your source.
5. If you are not redirected to the full text, you will see a screen similar to the image below. You can request the source through your library's interlibrary loan service by clicking on the link.
6. When requesting the full text via interlibrary loan, you will fill out a form asking for information about the source you are requesting (journal title, article title, etc.). Once you complete and submit this form, you will receive an email confirming your request. You should receive the full text of your source within 7 days, often less.
