Welcome
Welcome to Online Finite Mathematics
You will work through eight chapters of the textbook by Maki, Thompson, and McKinley during this eight-week course. The modules are designed to guide you through the material. They contain text, reading assignments, video tutorials, brain-work quizzes to assess your understanding, homework in an online system called WeBWorK, and discussions. Math tends to be linear and cumulative, with new material building on the past. So the modules are also designed so that you have to work through the material in order. You cannot proceed to the second module until you have completed the readings and activities in the first, for instance.
To get started:
- Read and watch the material in the Introduction and Important Course Information module.
- Complete the preliminary module 0. Are you ready? That will involve registering with Examity, completing a graded quiz in Examity on your understanding of what is required in this online course, and introducing yourself to the class.
- Get started on the math with 1.1 Sets.
You will need to complete a module every day or two in order to stay on track in this course.
