Opportunities for Engaging in Research

Why take part in research as a research assistant?

Do I need experience or specific coursework? The answer is it depends on the Lab.

Some Faculty prefer working with eager students and might not expect those students to have much experience. Other Faculty may prefer students complete some key courses such as Intro Psy, Research Methods or Statistics. Take time to research labs and ask.

Participate as in experiments as a subject/participant

The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences has an ongoing need for experiment participants, both from IU's student population, and from the Bloomington community.

P101, P102, and P155 Students: Access the Experiment Sign-Up System to register for experiments that will fulfill your course requirements.
Your instructor will provide directions on filling out your profile. If you are experiencing any technical issues with the system, please check this page of the Psy Department Links to an external site..

The walls of our Psychological and Brain Sciences Building hallways are always full of fliers inviting members of the IU and Bloomington communities to participate in experiments, often for cash payment. Come visit our department to see what experiments are recruiting participants today!
