What do we expect from PBS Students?
- Review your degree requirements and academic progress prior to your scheduled advising appointment: Check out your Academic Advisement Report: https://one.iu.edu/aarLinks to an external site..
- Provide a detailed purpose for your appointment: When scheduling an advising appointment, you are prompted to include a purpose for the advising meeting. We encourage you to take advantage of that space and clearly indicate any interests or concerns you may have so we are better prepared for our meeting with you.
- Arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment: Or if you are unable to attend your scheduled meeting, please cancel your appointment.
- Come prepared! You are an active part of your educational planning! Come prepared to discuss actively. This could mean future goals, interests, academic or career planning, research interests, programs, certificates, and any questions you may have.
- Additional forms (ROTC, Athletics, Etc): You may have additional forms that require a meeting with your major advisor. Please indicate which forms will need to be completed in your advising purpose and come prepared with the required materials.
- Read official emails sent to your IU email. Remember! Check your IU email account regularly. Official university communications will be sent to your official university email address. Students are expected to check their email on a frequent and consistent basis in order to stay current with university-related communications.
- Check your schedule in your Student CenterLinks to an external site.. Do a final check to see classes in which you're actually enrolled, and which ones you have waitlisted. In addition, your class times and locations may have changed, so you want to know where they are.
- Make sure that you are enrolled in 12-15 credit hours if you plan to be a full-time student. Dropping below 12 credit hours may jeopardize scholarships, financial aid, and tuition costs, so if you drop a class, make sure you still have at least 12 credit hours for the semester. Plan to complete an average of 15 credit hours per semester in order to be on track to complete your degree in 4 years/8 semesters.
- Holds on your Account: You may have a hold on your account for a variety of reasons that require you to check in with a specific office on campus. If you have an academic hold you are required to see one of your major advisors prior to registering for the following semester. Please note that these holds can impact your ability to register on time for the following term. Be sure to check your student account for any holds prior to your registration date. https://studentcentral.indiana.edu/register/potential-problems.htmlLinks to an external site.
- General Questions: If you have general questions please email them to psyneuro@iu.edu. Do not email each of the individual advisors.
