You can receive academic credit for research!
If you are accepted by a lab in PBS for a Research Assistant (RA) position you can apply for PBS Supervised Research credit.
Email Psyneuro@indiana.edu if you have questions about the application process.
Before you are able to enroll in research hours you will want to meet with (or otherwise discuss through email / zoom, etc.) the PBS faculty member to discuss your time commitment and the specific research course that would be appropriate for you. Remember that both of you must sign the Supervised Research agreement form. Once you have filled out our portion be sure to provide it to your professor for review and their signature.
What is a typical time commitment?
This can vary based on the Lab. If you work about 10 hours per week during a regular semester that would be equal to 3 credits of Supervised Research Credit. If you do want to enroll in research credit, this would mean you can also reduce the number of regular classes you take during the semester. For example you could enroll 3 credits of lab and 12 credits of typical course work.
What research course is right for me?
Typically, if this is your 1st semester of research, you would likely plan the PSY-X 397. The faculty person and your Academic Advisors will help you choose the best course for your situation. The forms are linked below.
