Michael Neale, Ph.D.
Michael C Neale is the Banks Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry at Virginia Commonwealth University. He obtained his BSc and PhD degrees in Psychology at the University of London, where he also received postdoctoral training. In 1986 he joined Virginia Commonwealth University, where he has collaborated with Drs. Lindon Eaves and Kenneth Kendler. In addition to his ~500 published articles,
Dr. Neale is known for developing the structural equation modeling software Mx, and its subsequent open source R package, OpenMx. Currently, he is a site PI for the multisite Adolescent Behavior and Cognitive Development study (ABCDStudy(R)), which continues his research into neuroimaging genetics and the causal modeling of psychiatric disorders and substance abuse.
