Keyboard Proficiency Exams

Welcome to Keyboard Proficiencies for piano majors (BSOF Piano, BM Piano, MM Piano, DM Piano)! If you are NOT a piano major, you are in the wrong Canvas site, and any appointments you make through this site will be deleted. Please go to the Keyboard Proficiencies site for NON-piano majors. 

Exams will be heard in-person at MU 120.

Proficiency dates for BSOF Piano, BM Piano, MM Piano, and DM Piano students for Spring 2025 will be offered on Saturday, April 26 only. The sign-up deadline is 5pm the Tuesday before (Tuesday, April 22). 

Sign-up Instructions

[If you already "enrolled" in the "course", please skip to step 3]

1. Click "JOIN THIS COURSE" at the right.

2. Then click "ENROLL IN COURSE" on the subsequent screen.

3. Click the Calendar link in the left navigation menu. Make sure that "Keyboard Proficiencies (Piano Majors)" is selected as an active calendar. 

4. Click "Find Appointment"  over on the right hand side of the calendar page.

5.  Navigate to the proficiency month/day you are looking for (see above for this semester's date). It may be easiest to use the Month view here. 

6. If time slots do not appear, and you've double-checked that the little square box to the left of “Keyboard Proficiencies (Piano Majors)” is selected, that means the time slots are full. Contact secpiano@iu.edu for further instructions.

Questions about Song Reading?
