Grades
Grading will work a little differently in this class. We will still have assignments with due dates. However, you will not receive letter grades on a per-project basis. Instead, we will provide a list of skills (canvas call these Outcomes) that you should be able to master over the course of the semester. Whenever we observe that you have mastered a skill, we will mark it as "complete."
This approach will provide you will a global view of what you should be learning. It can also act as a checklist that will show you where you should focus your attention.
Additionally, we'll have two chances for reflection on how you're doing: Week 8 and Week 16. We will ask you to respond to a reflection and meet with one instructor for a short meeting. At the Week 16 review, we will determine a letter grade together (student and faculty) based on the percentage of skills you mastered, your reflection, and your engagement in the class (handing things in on time, participation in critique, discussion, classroom culture, etc.)
