Section: 7568
Course Description: Non-calculus survey of concepts in probability, estimation, and hypothesis testing. Applications of contingency table analysis; analysis of variance, regression, and other statistical techniques. Computer processing of data emphasized.
Learning Outcomes: By the end of the semester students should be able to:
- Apply statistical tools to problem-solving in the social sciences;
- Improve decision-making through statistical analysis;
- Explain the nature and use of distributions;
- Generalize sample data to larger populations;
- Explain the properties and limitations of estimators and hypothesis tests;
- Measure the nature and strength of relationship between variables;
- Transform raw data into useful information; and
- Carry out statistical analysis using computer tools.
