The Second Coming of Gluttony is an intense confrontation between the vegan human being and a martial artist/wrestler/sage in what some people term as an epic struggle. I often refer to this book as The Bane of Gluttony because at its core it presents a confrontation between the vegan "Bane" of our culture and our innate ability to rise above such petty vices. At face value The Second Coming Of Gluttony appears to be a book written by a vegan with an axe to grind, a vegan whose axe kills, and a Sage whose innate ability to rise above such petty vices appears to be beyond comprehension. And yet it is not; a simple confrontation of an excess of vices carried out in a platform upon which to further explore veganism, ethics, and future vision. In The Second Coming Of Gluttony, Bruce Lee presents his readers with a simple yet profound message of truth: eat meat, it is good for you.

The Bane Of Gluttony is simple to understand. Gluttony is defined as a condition wherein a person possesses an insatiable desire to consume food and not have enough of it. On the vegan platform, I would like to say that all forms of Veganism, whether they are vegetarian, vegan, eco-vegan, veganism, vegan-arian, etc., are expressions of insatiable hunger. And as long as there are Vegan people, there will be vices. As long as there are vices, there will be gluttony. Therefore, when I read The Bane Of Gluttony, I did not feel like it was some sort of senseless farce, but rather a sincere and trenchant message about the dangers of excessive consumption.

What makes The Bane Of Gluttony different from other works on veganism is that the writer, Bruce Lee, presents a vegan message with a spiritual context. Lee does this through the use of meditation, hypnosis, and his innate ability to communicate on a deeper level with God. In this way, he provides a counterpoint to the more secular Vegan movements, such as veganism. This is done through his writing and through his unique ability to conceive of ideas in such a way as to relay them to the reader in a meditative light. Through this innate ability to see spiritual truth in language, Bruce Lee simultaneously provides the means for understanding both the Bible and Veganism while at the same time helping the reader to transform his or her own perception of both.

Bruce Lee, in addition to his innate ability to speak from a meditative perspective, also possessed another gift: the ability to use simple language and create powerful imagery. He understands both spiritually and socially, and as such, he was able to translate these concepts into a format that the average person could understand and use. Through his use of flowery metaphors and images, he presents the ideas behind Veganism and vegetarianism in such a way that is not only enlightening but also fun.

In his book, The Bane Of Gluttony, Lee expounded upon veganism in such a way as to make it accessible to the average citizen without necessarily being considered "vegan." It is important to understand that the term "veganism" does not actually mean the same thing as veganism. Most often, when vegans are asked what they believe in, they are merely asked how they define themselves, without explaining why they choose to abstain from eating animal products. This is because the word has a negative connotation and is commonly associated with those that are anti-animal rights activists. Through his writing, however, Bruce Lee clarified veganism as a diet, noting that all of us have an inherent ability to love animals.

By creating an image of himself as the savior of animals, Lee offered an explanation for why his own life was not full of love and compassion for animals as much as it had been when he was alive. This is the basic message of his second coming of gluttony series. If we want to live a life that is bountiful and abundant, we must abandon the old ways of thinking and replace them with new ones. Through his writing, Lee created a new way of thinking about love, compassion, life and veganism.
