Please read pages 163-164 in your textbook. Use what you learned about your audience in the first weekly discussion board to complete this assignment. Be specific in your paper. How will you adapt your SEEI Impact speech specifically to the individuals listening to your speech in our virtual classroom?
From your textbook:
What Is the Audience Adaptation Paper?
The audience adaptation paper asks you to identify the choices you made when adapting your informative speech topic to your classroom audience and setting while indicating the rationale behind those choices.
What Areas Should I Address?
The audience adaptation paper has three specific areas: your informative speech thesis statement, the choices you have made to adapt your topic to your classroom audience and setting and the rationale for those choices, and the same MLA Works Cited list you included with your outline.
What Is the Structure for the Adaptation Paper?
The thesis statement for your informative speech should be labeled and at the top of the page. The thesis statement is followed by a short essay that explains the choices you have made while preparing your speech and adapting your topic to your classroom audience and setting. This essay should use paragraph form with complete sentences. The list above is not exhaustive; there are many choices that are made in the speech preparation process. You should explain the choices that are important in your presentation, along with the rationale, regardless of whether they are listed above. At the end of the paper you should include a Works Cited section and list all of your sources using MLA format. This does not replace submission of your sources with your written outline.
What Do You Mean by Choices?
As you have prepared this speech, you have chosen everything about it, from the topic to the evidence, organization, and visual aids. Each choice is a decision on your part based within the context of your audience. Your job in the adaptation paper is to record the choices made as you prepared the speech for your classroom audience, identifying your reasoning behind
those decisions.
Why Is This Important?
Since these choices will determine the effectiveness of your presentation, it is important to think about them to confirm or improve your choice-making process for this speech, and reflect upon their effectiveness for future presentations.
