What to Do if You Believe You Are Being or Have Been Harassed or a Victim of Discrimination?
DON'T just take it. Tell someone! You can make a complaint under your collective bargaining agreement or campus policy. The College will take it seriously. If you're afraid, take a friend, co-worker, or teacher with you.
You can report harassment or other discrimination to:
Human Resources (Employees)
Lesley Hogan, Executive Director of Human Resources and Title IX Officer, J202-A. Phone: 425-235-7873, titleIX@rtc.edu.
Student Conduct (Students)
Students can refer to the Student Rights and Responsibilities page for information and help. Vice President of Student Services, Jessica Gilmore English can also be contacted. Her office is I-202, 425-235-2463, jgilmoreenglish@rtc.edu.
What will happen next?
- The College will investigate your complaint and take prompt, effective action to correct the problem. Investigations must be completed within 60 days.
- The College will not make your complaint public, but will have to tell some people about it in order to investigate and take appropriate corrective action. The only people who will know about your complaint are those who need to know about it to get these things accomplished. However if a public records request is made, the complaint may be released.
- You may also file a complaint with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) or the Office for Civil Rights.
- The College will not allow anyone to retaliate against you for filing a complaint, and will take action against anyone who does. Retaliation can include threats, taunting or teasing, or additional harassment. Any retaliation should be immediately reported to the Office of Human Resources.
