Mental and Emotional Health Services

- Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)Links to an external site.: Counseling services in English, sometimes Mandarin, and often Spanish. All IU students get a certain number of free sessions.
- Counseling and Wellness ClinicLinks to an external site.: The clinic provides support for mild to moderate mental health issues. A minimal fee is charged for counseling at the Counseling and Wellness Clinic.
- TimelyCareLinks to an external site.: Indiana students have FREE, 24/7 access to virtual care services with TimelyCare — the virtual health and well-being platform from TimelyCare, designed for college students. Students do not need insurance to access TimelyCare services.
- Sexual Assault Crisis Service (SACS)Links to an external site.: A special part of CAPS for anyone who has experienced an assault, including providing confidential victim advocates for those in need
Connecting with IU’s cultural centers
While the physical buildings for the IU cultural centers will remain closed during the spring semester, each one will continue to provide support and programs for the IU community. Learn more about how to get connected below.
- The Asian Culture Center Links to an external site. is a place of community, advocacy, and education to promote awareness and understanding of Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander cultures, history, and issues.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)

CAPS continues to offer remote services by phone/video for the Spring 2021 semester. In-person visits have been suspended due to the ongoing pandemic. All IU students who have paid the student health fee receive two free CAPS counseling visits each semester. If you’re a first-time client, you’ll also receive one free, 30-minute CAPS Now appointment to connect you to appropriate services.
Several popular CAPS workshops have been recorded and are now available to view Links to an external site.. Each video lasts 30-45 minutes and is full of useful info and strategies you can start using immediately to create change.

Food resources available in Bloomington
in case you or another student are searching for assistance. According to the Hope Center in the fall of 2020, 34% of college students experienced food insecurity which means it is likely that we all have a friend that could use this information.
The Crimson Cupboard Links to an external site. offers free food to any IU Bloomington students who cannot otherwise afford it. The Crimson Cupboard operates on the honor system, and they will never ask you for financial information. You can visit the pantry once a week.
The Crimson Cupboard is located in Campus View Apartments at 800 N Union Street. You can contact the pantry at 812-855-1924 or via email at cupboard@indiana.edu. People's Open Pantry / La Despensa POPular (POP)
Pop runs every Saturday 11 am – 1 pm ET at Artisan Alley, (222 W 2nd Street, Bloomington). POP is stocked weekly with food from Hoosier Hills Food Bank and personal care items donated by the community. All are welcome – no ID or proof of need required.
