You may hear academic advisors use these terms ("Colleges", "Units" or "Schools") to refer to the separate areas of the University.

- You will have specific requirements as a "Coll" student. For BA students these requirements are standard across departments. For BS students they may vary a bit depending on the department and major.
As a University student everyone must complete IUB General Education Links to an external site. (GenEd) requirements or the Statewide Transfer General Education Core (STGEC).

- Mathematical Modeling
- CASE Breadth of Inquiry
- Arts and Humanities
- Social and Historical Studies
- Natural and Mathematical Sciences
- CASE Culture Studies (not transferable)
- Diversity in the United States (1 approved course at IUB starting 2020)
- Global Civilizations and Cultures (Currently only required for BA degrees and some but not all BS degrees)
- Critical Approaches (not transferable)
- 1 course from COLL-C 103, COLL-C 104, or COLL-C105
- Foreign Language
- 4th-semester proficiency in a single foreign language is required for the BA; PsyBS, Org Psy BS and NeusBS requirement is the 3rd semester.
- Intensive Writing (not transferable)
- Pre-Requisite course is English Composition
- This isn't one specific set course. There are typically 80+ different courses per semester that carry this attribute. Pro Tip: Only sections that have "COLL INTENSIVE WRITING SECTION" is listed in the course section notes count for this requirement.
- Public Oral Communication
- 1 course (COLL-P 155)
