Activity: Review your course quizzes for assessment data and opportunities

Identify a Canvas course that you have taught in the past (one that contains student quiz data with multiple choice questions) and plan to teach in the future: use your course site to explore quiz statistics and determine if there are areas for improvement.

Review 3.2 A blueprint for using assessment learning analytics and the 3.5 Example: Review Quiz Statistics, if needed; then Quiz Statistics in one of your own courses to address:

  • Are your questions valid and reliable?
    • Is there alignment with your Student Learning Objectives?
    • Is there strong reliability evidence or do they need to be eliminated?
  • Are there sufficient low-stakes opportunities offered to students for them to practice applying their newly acquired skills and knowledge?
  • Is there an opportunity for students to review, demonstrate mastery, and recover their grade?
  • Should the intervention on misconceptions be class-wide or individual?
  • What additional resources will they need during remediation (consider topic material as well as study strategies)? Is there a way to revise the lesson plan to incorporate this for next time?
