Studying reasoning is the correct way to acquire knowledge. The memory study is not helpful and we are going to see that by comparing both study methods point by point.

1. You don't understand the issues

You do not have a true knowledge of the subjects. Maybe from some separate parts. But on the whole, when you study in this way, you record the words without understanding what they refer to.

2. You have no margin for error

The assimilation of the topics implies the perfect memorization of the texts to be studied.

You must know everything the same as the references from which you study. You cannot alter a comma or a period, since you would run the risk of changing the meaning of a paragraph or sentence.

When studying by heart, if you forget something, you may not be able to remember everything that comes next.

At the same time, the information in your brain seems to be recorded sequentially and not randomly. This means that to be able to answer something punctual, you must remember a whole block of memorized data.

Also, if you forget something in the middle, then there is a danger that you will not be able to remember what comes next.

3. After the exam you forget everything

Weeks after performing, you will not remember the issues. If you had to take the test again, you should start memorizing again from scratch. You have not acquired the slightest knowledge.

4. you can't relate the topics

You can't relate the subject studied with others. You cannot make comparisons and therefore exam questions that ask you to analyze concepts are impossible to answer.

5. Teachers realize

Teachers are familiar with textbooks and have experience correcting tests. In some cases, they can easily tell whether a student studied by rote or not. To check it, nothing is easier than asking a few extra questions orally.

Teachers intuit when a student has studied everything by heart.

Study reasoning

1. The issues are understood

What is studied is known and understood. Before starting the memorization process, you have already analyzed the subject. You have broken down each element involved. You know them and you understand them. Also, the integrated set.

2. The explanation of the topic is assembled at the moment

The words that appear in the text should not be memorized exactly (be careful! In some subjects changing a word can change the whole meaning).

In general, you can change some words to others. You can even rewrite entire paragraphs to find an easier and more compact way to remember the information.

Any topic can be easily remembered and it is not necessary to have to recall the topic that was there before, to be able to evoke it.

As you study by reasoning, your mind gathers the data it remembers and combines it to answer.

3. The concept remains forever (or for a long time)

Weeks after the exam, you will lose much of your retained information, but the most important concept and knowledge of the subject will remain forever (or at least for a long time) in your brain.

4. You can make associations

Reasoning allows you to make associations and comparisons with other topics. Exam questions in this style are easy for you, and the answers can be constructed at the time of taking.

5. The teacher has nothing to detect

Regarding this point, not only can the teacher not detect anything, but even asking questions about the topics, you should be in a position to answer them, thanks to the reasoned study that you have carried out.

In short, you should always study reasoning

The study of memory causes an effect that makes it seem that the subject is known, but in reality, the knowledge is not acquired at any time.

It is dangerous to study like this since you can pass a subject, but not a whole degree.

The best thing is to study reasoning. You will always have to memorize something, of course, but know what you are studying.
